South vs North: Maintenance Strategies for Artificial Turf in Different Climates
Editor:xinxu 2025.07.04
Southern Regions (High Temperature & Humidity)
Drainage Priority:Inspect drainage holes in the perforated backing weekly. Use high-pressure water to flush out blocked sediment and remove standing water promptly after heavy rain.
Mold Prevention:Spray eco-friendly mold inhibitor monthly, focusing on the root zones of grass filaments in damp areas like shaded spots under trees.
UV Protection:Cover with sunshade nets at noon in summer to delay UV aging of grass filaments. Reapply UV-resistant coating annually.
Northern Regions (Arid & Cold)
Freeze Protection:Lay thermal insulation felt before winter. Prohibit the use of de-icing salt below -10℃; use mechanical snow sweepers instead.
Sand Control:Vacuum dust between grass filaments with an electrostatic cleaner weekly during windy spring seasons, and replenish lost rubber infill.
Moisture Retention:Mist the turf every two weeks in dry seasons (not irrigation) to prevent static abrasion from dryness.
Universal Tips:Both regions should avoid sharp objects damaging the turf and regularly comb 倒伏 (bent) grass filaments with a specialized brush. Reduce maintenance frequency by 20% in the northern summer and southern winter.
